Sexist Dad
9 Answers
For the entirety of high school, I have been wearing uniform pants to school. I am not a fan of wearing them, but I wore them anyway. This year, I wanted to buy a knee-length uniform skirt to school. This is allowed at the school, and many girls in the school have worn the skirt. I was supposed to get my skirt today, when all of a sudden, my dad says no. He goes on this long pep-talk saying he knows how boys will react to a skirt, and that he will NEVER let me wear a skirt to school. This made me extremely angry, because there has been NO incident of sexual assault at my school because of a skirt. He acts as if he has control over my body.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the skirt, my dad is just sexist and believes that me wearing a knee length uniform skirt to school is going to get all of their attention. Please tell me, am I in the wrong? If you don’t think I am, please tell me what can I do?

(Many schoolgirls around the world found it took years before the rules were relaxed so they could wear pants instead of skirts, to deter boys' prying eyes.)
Is this worth dying in a ditch for?

PS it's very common for parents to put limits on what their offspring wear, etc.. It is in their judgement in the best interest of their offspring, even if often the offspring disagrees.
Oh, and of course the boys will notice your legs, and if you flash your underwear that'd catch their interest too. Which may or may not be part of the appeal, given we all would like to be admired. Probably best to put up with your parents' decisions though. You will have plenty of years as an adult when you can decide for yourself what is best.
