I read in the I today that Trump is livid about the failure of the US population to fully endorse his attempt to win power in the next US election. A lot of his proteges have not done well, and one who did well (disantos) is actually a rival to Trump.
Any well-informed and intelligent views about all this?

I think that date would be when all the vote counting was finally finished.

The plan being to say he had no choice but to run in 2024, what with the glorious red wave being all down to him and everything.

It didn't quite go to plan though. They are now trying to persuade him to delay any announcement.

Regardless of what Trump has said or done it is time for him to step aside. IMHO what would be best for the US and consequently the Western World would be for DeSantis to be President -

As I have said before, Trump and Biden are too old. Time for fresh blood, the Democrats need to dump Biden too, they must have someone better.

Biden has announced his intention to stand again, which is ridiculous, and would make a Republican win in 2024 pretty much nailed on. He is way too old.

I think he is mistaking the better than expected mid term results as some sort of validation of him. It isn't. It's a rejection of the abortion ruling and Trump's election lies.

Trump is unhinged. The Murdoch press have abandoned him and are bigging up DeSantis.

The ranting, raving and meltdown we're going to see over the next two years will be highly entertaining.
