Why are shops so against giving a receipt, I have to ask every time for a receipt, and every time they pull a face ~ Idiots I hope you get this sorted out. Good luck

Roadman, I think your suggestion to buy another one and then return the faulty one in the undamaged packing is the best idea. The only problem I could be the replacement you buy is also faulty.
I don't think packaging is classed as part of the product though. If the product is faulty due to something unrelated to the packaging, electrical for example, then a refund should be given as the goods purchased are not fit for purpose.

My dad did something similar with a strimmer from B&Q. After a couple of uses it packed up, and he could not get it going again. Unfortunately, he had lost the receipt and put the packaging on a bonfire, so we just bought another, swopped out the defective one and took it back saying it was faulty. Dad got a full refund no questions asked, and nothing was scanned. These things are just tossed in the bin by the retailers and classed as shrinkage.
