It was an answer in a crossword I just finished & it made me think, are they still bowled much in today's cricket? I remember Wasim Akram was a great exponent.

I don't get to see cricket live anymore - though I watched the T20 final at the weekend & that seemed to be entirely fast, spin bowling.

I'm sure there was at least one yorker bowled in the T20 final.
For a traditional Yorker to be effective, a batsman needs to be standing in the sort of position that most of us were taught at school, with his feet in line with, or immediately adjacent to, the line of the stumps. Many batsmen now stand well outside the line of the stumps, making the Yorker less effective. However, in limited overs cricket, bowling a ball of a Yorker length outside the line of the stumps is now a useful tactic, as it can result in a dot ball. Such a delivery has become known as a 'wide Yorker':

Yes I saw an England batsman bowled by a yorker on Sunday.
I have a feeling the great Wasim Akram was commentating at the time, tho I may be mistaken.
PS: Some 'fast Yorker' bowlers still have the ability to suddenly bowl a traditional Yorker on the line of the stumps, thereby catching a batsman unawares. The undoubted modern master of such deliveries is Lasith Malinga:

^^^ Typo!

'fast Yorker', at 1030, should be 'wide Yorker', of course.
