Its brilliant isn't it? Eric Sykes had glasses that enhanced his hearing through sound amplification, there was no glass in them! But these new ones are amazing.

Dagman, I think Eric's glasses had his hearing aids on the arms of the glasses.
I remember an episode of Rumpole of the Bailey where the witness described a conversation she had overheard. Rumpole asked her if she was wearing her glasses at the time, and she said she wasn't.
He asked her to take them off and she couldn't hear him - she had the same sort of hearing aids as Eric.
