I didn't know where to put this! If a form states that it should be completed in black ink and you inadvertently fill it in in blue, does it get sent back to you? (I believe it's because black is better for photocopying but I may be wrong).

It will vary from organisation to organisation. In my experience, forms ask for black ink just to ensure that they get filled in in "dark" ink, as opposed to red or green etc.
I've filled in plenty of forms in blue ink, instead of the specified black (as I've only realised later) and never had any problems through doing so.

Early photocopiers didn't always produce good results with blue ink but modern copiers and scanners simply auto-adjust most of the time anyway, usually producing perfect copies.
Apologies in advance.

Black ink matters.
