....with the steep rise in energy bills. How are you coping with costs and also now that the weather is starting to get colder? Has the £66 helped? And any other allowances you may entitled to?

I have not put my heating on yet. Not using tumbke dryer and using cooker less. I am due to read my meter 30/11 so I will see what savings have been made and use that saving towards the colder months to come plus the money from cost of living.
It's 20º in my sitting room with no heating on and it very rarely goes below that so I'm OK. I'll have a hot water bottle if I get cold later on. I use my microwave when I can as that is cheaper than an oven. My monthly payment to BG of £85/m is too much according to them but I'd rather they owed me than vice versa. So can't grumble.
The last couple of days I have had my heating on for an hour in the morning & then 2 hours in the evening. It is cold today. I used my tumble dryer yesterday for an hour. I am sitting in front room with a throw over me & I'm feeling quite cosy. I haven't had a bill yet reflecting the new rates, but dreading it.
Food prices have risen, i am spending more on my food shop but determined not to forgo anything.
I've had to turn my thermostat up a notch to 21' it has been that bloomin' cold today... it should've come on by itself although it is timed as well.

As for the top up Utilita (Smart meter etc... ) they do it automatically for the electric but not for the gas... so yes it has helped.
Haven't got our gas central heating on yet. We are trying to hold out but not for much longer. It's been very cold last couple of days. Going to have boiler serviced tomorrow, then if all ok, it's going on!
I think Oct/Nov have been relatively warm around here. I've used the gas CH in the mornings & with a few minor economies (switching lights off/not using the oven as much) my bills should be lower than the same months last year.

So far, according to my smart meter, I've used over £41 on gas this week alone and over £12 on electric!!
