Samsung Tablet/Keyboard And Predictive Text

I recently purchased a tablet as my old one has screen issues. No doubt the old one became well set up over time, the new one is being a pain.

I have become absolutely sick to death of the thing surreptitiously changing the things I have written in the hope that I don't notice the absolute garbage it has put in it's place. I did a websearch for where to find a predictive text setting. The Samsung site was not perfect as it pretended there were tablet setting menus that did not exist. A settings search for 'predictive' and 'predictive text' claimed nothing was found. I eventually found it in the keyboard settings, as opposed to the tablet settings.

I turned off predictive text and it now appears to no longer change my typing without permission. The trouble is that it seems to think it hilarious to remove any suggestions at the same time !

Does anyone know how to get it to both make suggestions above the keyboard, as it used to, yet not go around putting incorrect unrelated words, instead of the perfect typing I made (even if it often doesn't put my perfect typing correctly on the screen), without my permission for any change ?

TIA

You could change your on screen keyboard, lots of choices in the Play Store

Thanks. I do have a "hacker's keyboard" installed. I've not used it yet but it was ok on my previous tablet. But I was rather hoping there would be a solution for the default one.

Unsure how I missed that. Think I was focused on the prediction bit. Thanks.
