2 Ohms or 4 Ohms?

I've just started to DJ and don't understand how ohms work. Ive got a 1500watt amplifier and my speakers and bass bins have a maximum output of 2400 watts. I've heard about 2 ohms 4 ohms 8 ohms, bridged and unabridged but am a bit baffled. If my amp is on full how much power is actually going to my speakers?

you need to match the speakers to your amp in terms of the ohms.
Your speakers will run at 1500watts, since that is the max output from your amp.

Thanks, I just got a bit confused when someone told me that at at 2 ohms the amp would power them x amount, 4 ohms y amount. If I am using speakon leads from amp to bass bin then bass bin to speaker what would that be in ohms?

the leads shouldn't make a difference. The speakers themselves are rated with an impedance of 2,4 or 8 ohms. Look on the stickers on the back next to the connection points.

Bass speakers require that the bass component be seperated from the full-range signal with each component of the signal being sent to the speaker intended to reproduce that range of frequencies.

Using an unfiltered full range signal to power a bass speaker results in a large waste of power as the higher frequencies will not be properly reproduced in a bass speaker while the power delivered to them above the range of frequencies they are intended to reproduce will only heat the voice coil of the speaker and require that the amplifier work to supply the power that is being wasted.

A cross-over is necessary to seperate the signal so that the frequencies each speaker is designed to reproduce are being sent to the speaker that can most efficiently and effectively reproduce that range of frequencies.
