My partner died over 5 yrs ago I was left an equal share in his will his children were also left an equal share each but we’re also made executors of his will. All three of them (executors) never accepted me as his partner so the solicitor only communicates with me. I received an interim payment 3 yrs ago I never see any accounts. Their excuse for not completing the will is they cannot get final settlement of the IHT from HMRC therefore nothing happens I have left it for another yr but still get the same reason for not completing it. I can’t disprove what they say do I just walk away. My solicitor sent them a letter on my behalf they just don’t reply.

What percentage was your interim payment? Have they had probate granted yet?
Given you have a solicitor acting for you, why not ask him or her to get tough with the executors and start threatening Court proceedings. There are a number of things that can be done, but you really need your solicitor to grasp the nettle and get some answers.
You may find this useful, though if you already have a solicitor on the case, I suggest getting back to them. It took a great aunt of mines estate over 3 years to pay out, very complex will with property and land.

What is your solicitor - man or mouse. He should be proactively fighting your corner vigorously, not just writing a letter for which no doubt he charges you an extortionate fee. Berate him into action or get another solicitor.
You need a new, competent, solicitor as per previous advice you've received on here.

Looking at all your replies I definitely need a good solicitor, finding one is the hard part. I shouldn’t have to pay out what money I have to get what my partner left me. Thank you all for your input.
