I tried my best this past weekend to persuade MrSmow to agree to us going to buy our Xmas tree & put it up. (We always have a real tree). He refused point blank, albeit in a teasing way, as it was not December yet. He said we can go and get it next weekend. Chatted to quite a few friends/family over the weekend and was surprised at just how many have actually got their trees up already - all artificial but still look fab. Even they all agreed that they don’t usually put their trees up this early and weren’t sure why they have this year lol.
Soooo who’s got their tree up yet, or any decorations at all?? And if not then when do you usually put yours up?

Not up. Going to Porto for ten days tomorrow. Will put up tree with grand kids the weekend I get back
I will put mine up second weekend in December. None of my neighbours have theirs up, no Xmas spirit round here. It is too early.
For us it's far too early. Having seen the prices I think we'll give it a miss; we have quite a large one in a pot from last year, and Mrs A might want to bring it in, but I hope not, as it'll be full of creepy-crawlies. Anyway we'll have no little ones around this year; we're going to them instead.
And furthermore, in my distant youth, trees were three-ha'pence a foot. Then they went up to a pound a foot and I felt uneasy at that. Now they're about fifty quid a yard!
No earlier than 10th December.
I'm not having a tree. Cats and Christmas trees don't mix together well!
Santa Claws!
No, not yet, even though advent has begun. All flowers etc. now gone from the church and later it'll just have holly, ivy & candles.
A daughter's birthday was mid-Dec. so I got into the habit of not doing anything Christmassey until about the 20th Dec..
Ha, not a chance!

I have just ordered some artificial flowers that I will use to pep up the arrangements I shall do on the mantlepieces and over the inglenook (I have relented and said I shall do none dangly things because of the naughty pussy cats that live here). I have also requested that my floristry kit (or what is left of it after the mice have been in it) is retrieved from the garage loft. So, we are at "thinking about it stage".
goes up xmas eve comes down boxing day
Yep. Mine were up for the start of Advent. House looks lovely.
I got little Tigs's dad to put our one up yesterday before he leaves. I've got window lights up which have been there since last year and will put that on, on 1st Dec.
My small real tree is in a pot just outside the back door. I'll bring it into the porch to aclimatise during early December and bring it into the house and decorate it about a week before Christmas. It goes back out again just after New Year until next Christmas.
nope, not here, don't believe it should happen until the 1st at the earliest......
Around middle of Dec for the Decs at the earliest.
I planted mine out in the garden last year and there it will stay.
I don't know how true this is but I was told yesterday that because we've had no frost yet the trees when cut will not hold their needles, apparently they need some frosty nights.
In my family, the tree has always gone up on the first Saturday of December, so I try to do it as close to then as possible - mine will be going up on Friday night. It's a new one (we always have artificial trees) so I'll be taking the old one to the charity shop at the weekend as it's still in a fair condition - hoping someone else will get a little joy from it!
