Horlicks, Ovaltine or just plain warm milk.
Horlicks is the drink that's long been marketed as a sleep aid but any milky drink is likely to work in much the same way:

yes I have had warm old milk last two nights and it has helped but - is the ovaltine, horlicks "fattening"

Thanks Barry for your answer.
Warm milk with a tot of whisky or brandy might work better :D

^^^^ old - fresh LOL
Question Author
no no drink - can't stand whiskey or brandy but thanks for suggestion.
Depends on the sort of milk you use, JJ. Skimmed, semi-skimmed, full fat and the variety of Horlicks/Ovaltine you have.
There are 187 calories in 1 cup (200 ml) of Horlicks Horlicks with Semi Skimmed Milk.
////what one of them would help you to sleep - thanks///

None of them.
It can be made with water if you're worried about it being 'fattening'.
My GP told me cocoa had caffeine in it so was not suitable to drink before bed. I think a tot of spiced rum with hot water and a teaspoon of honey if you like it, would be just as good. Zopiclone would work better of course .
Chai Tea (teabags) made with hot milk is lovely.
If you can get BOB milk in NI, I highly recommend it, it's skimmed milk but with the taste of semi.
Cocoa powder does have caffeine but it's far less than coffee. 10g per teaspoon.
I think you mean milligrams pasta :-)
Meaghan, pasta is talking about coffee and you are presumably talking about caffeine.
Pasta is correct.
I sometimes have Twinings Swiss Chocolate Drink - best one I've found.
A chloroform milkshake ?
yes - stick some chloral hydrate in it - a Mickey Finn !
