I am going home after lunch as they think I am ready. I will have patient transport to help me up the stairs.

Morning all, glad you are coming home today and you are progressing so well, emmie. No idea why you were told you wouldn't be able to put weight on your new knee.

Red Cross is a good suggestion but you would need a referral from your GP or the hospital for after care. I'm sure you'll manage better than you think, though.
