Folk in Ulster can check if their postcodes qualify for a Cold Weather Payment (CWP) here,

In Scotland, the CWP has been replaced by a single £50 Winter Heating Payment which is paid regardless of the temperature.

It's interesting how the estimates of expenditure can vary so much. From far less than 1 million in 2019/2020...to 100 million the following period.

pasta - I've just had a look, and I received a £25 Cold Weather Payment on 13th January 2021, one the following week, and another the next month.
Don't remember it being that cold!

The payments are based upon the temperature at weather stations linked to claimants' postcodes.

That means it could be 0°C at an address but not at the weather station and vice versa so it's not a perfect system.

Lol...maybe it's like childbirth. Horrible when its happening, but quickly forgotten ;)
I know I'm not likely to get it as we don't often get continuous days of 0° temps down this way. 5 are predicted later this week...but even if we got 7, going by the government's methodology I'm doubtful we'd qualify.
