Antiparasites

I am having a hell of a job finding an anti parasite for Tora, our beloved Bichon Maltese. The one that you are supposed to put on their backs every month. i tried yet another yesterday and poor thing was going nuts, must irritate like hell. We had to give her a bath to try to remove it. she does have delicate skin, and is prone to dermatitis. Does anyone know of one that would not irritate her skin, maybe a natural one ? I did ask the vet, but even the one he suggested irritated her. Poor little thing ( well not sooo little anymore, 5 kilos )

My daughter uses Bravecto. It’s a tablet that looks like a treat and is given every 12 weeks.

Thanks Milo. But isn’t that for worms ? Had a look on Amazon but they don’t seem available here anyway. Has anyone heard of Disane ?

Bravecto is good for fleas and ticks and worms. We have been using it for ages with good results

I use Bravecto as well. My dog thinks it's a treat and wolf's it down.

I think that there's the possibility of some confusion here. What type of parasites are you referring to? If its those on your dog's skin, such as fleas and ticks, Credelio has quite a few fans here. (It's a tiny tablet, available only on prescription, that's easy to hide in food).

However if it's intestinal parasites that you're referring to, you'll clearly need something different. Once again though, given your dog's sensitivity to anything on her skin, it might be best to ask your vet for something that's easy to hide in her food.

I've spent many hours trying to get 'spot on' treatments applied to my cats, simply because I didn't fancy the idea of getting tablets into them. However, now that I've worked out which tablets I can hide in their food, life has got a lot easier both for me and for them. Perhaps the same might be true as far as Tora is concerned?

Thanks everyone. It is for fleas, ticks etc. she takes a pill every three months that the vet gives me. Rather sells me. Hahaha. I will ask him for another recommendation next week I think. She’s off to his beauty salon next week so I’ll ask then. Seems like what you have in the UK is different than what we have here.

To clarify. She takes the vet’s pill every three months for worms and so on

Don’t know if its any help, but Lloyds Chemist sells cat/dog treatments - might be cheaper than the same thing from the vet.

Does she have worms/fleas/ticks? If not why are you putting poison into her system every three months? Treat them when they appear and it will not only be better for her but better for your purse.
