I have never watched this film. The name Rom Com always puts me off. Can anyone convince me it is worth spending 2 hours watching it?

I'm similar as you, as in to be avoided... Rom-Com, Musical or anything featuring Miss Piggy. (Jenifer Aniston) but Love actually is an enjoyable film and worth a look if you've never seen it

Thank you, I will give it a go on Friday as someone said it was on this week.
Thoroughly enjoyed this, excellent cast ….Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Liam Neeson …. ( and the yummy Rodrigo Santoro ) so I hope you do too.

Thank you everyone. Clues to what I have found absorbing are: Howard's End: Room with a View: Passage to India: The Remains of the Day: Emma Thompson is an amazing actress.
Wow that’s a fantastic line up ….seen them all and loved everyone. You might also like Last Chance Harvey with Emma and Dustin Hoffman, it’s charming.
Love actually is “ok” in my opinion but I think as a film it’s over rated, good cast list though.
good film, funny and very poignant in parts.
Some parts haven't aged well, but there are some amusing bits.
Hugh Grant as Prime Minister is quite good.
the scene where emma thomson discovers her husband had designs on one of the staff and had given her the gold necklace instead of his wife, sorry if that' a bit garbled...
its not one for the kiddies, as there is a nude sex scene and some bad language i think.
Like you Stargazer, I avoid 'romcoms' and I also avoid 'feelgood' films - I don't want to have someone try and make me 'feel good' - the exact opposite effect is more likely to result.
