A friend of mine (too far away for me to visit) also had to use 2 crutches to get around. I managed to find her two screw top non-leak containers. One was mug and the other slightly larger. One she used for drinks and the larger one for soup and other meals she could fit in. She also had a pinny with long ties so it could be fastened at the front and a very large pocket in which she put the cutlery she wanted and wrapped biscuits and sandwiches. A mutual friend made her a pouch to carry her phone in. The containers and the pouch she wore round her neck using ribbons.

they said that in the hospital and my friends think the same...

it just seems a slow arduous process when you have a bit of pain..but it will make all the difference once healed
