as i don't seem able to swallow well and find that my throat is blocked.
i am trying to eat and drink water, but neither seem to be going down.

The above with the usual caveat not to take ibuprofen if you are allergic to it or have underlying health conditions for which ibuprofen would not be suitable.

a friend is picking up the antibiotics from boots this evening. Its doxyclyclin i think?

ibuprofen isn't suitable. I have diacodeine and paracetamol with doses of liquid morphine for pain relief.
Yes ibuprofen isn't suitable for everyone. At least you are getting the antibiotics today, hopefully should be feeling better soon.
Doxycyline are quite powerful. I was given them about a month after I was discharged as I picked up another infection.

I do hope you are feeling better soon. You've really been through it lately.

i am in the wars but one hopes that i will be more mobile soon.
I Have the rapid response team looking in later to check on whether a pressure cushion will work for getting up more easily from the sofa. they have also left a toilet surround, to hoist myself on and off, which is very useful.

thank you hazlinny, its hard going i must admit. but looks like i will get support from several sources, to wash, dress, and put food in the oven.
Do you have to go upstairs to the bathroom and your bedroom, emmie, or are you all on one floor?

thankfully all on one floor. I still don't know how i got up the 34 steps to the flat on crutches.

i was shocked at the pain, but one foot at a time was how physio showed me at the hospital.

the OT who came to see me last night said she was impressed i managed it. I was shocked at how much pain there was and that i thought my legs would fail me, they were very wobbly.
It's early days yet emmie. Just take one day at a time...you'll soon look back and realise how much progress you have made. Hope the antibiotics do the job. Wishing you well.x
You seem to be getting a lot of people calling round, so that must be helping. Not as alone as you thought you would be. I know you're anxious, and that doesn't help, so try to recognise all the positives - not least that you're on the mend.
My husband had aspirational pneumonia a few years ago whilst he was in hospital recovering from a fall. When the responders come to see you Emmie don't forget to mention the fact that you don't seem able to swallow.
