I do like The Eagles, but would never want to watch them in concert - their perfect reproduction of their albums makes the live experience redundant.
I saw Fleetwood Mac on the Tusk tour in the early 80s, and for a band lumped in with The Eagles as 'Californian soft rock' they were nothing of the kind.
Some of their live arrangements were so out there, they were halfway through some songs before I realised what they were.
The intensity and rawness of their show was epitomised by Lindsey Buckingham's brutal attack on the upper frets of his guitar, as his ever more savage slashing lead lines caused a string on his guitar to break.
Unsurprisingly, he carried on as though nothing had happened with skill and dexterity Jimmy Page would be proud of.
No 'soft rock' there, they were stunning.
