Surely all the country dances are representative of those country's styles (like the Russian dance, Spanish dance, Chinese dance etc.,) or are they now regarded as unacceptable caricatures? Seems daft to pick on the Arabian dance.

My favourite dance in the ballet is the Arabian dance.

Yeah - Turkish and not Arabic - but Tchaikovsky didnt know that. Turkey and the Harem at the Topkapi wasnt exactly mainstream Islam in 1890 - and that wdnt have been the reason anyway.
