The electric over-bath shower keeps blowing fuses after a few weeks. The instruction manual says to use a 40amp fuse but I can't find one anywhere (B&Q, Internet etc). A 45amp fuse is too big to fit in box, and I'm currently using 30amp fuses which blow within weeks. Contacted Mira by email who advise me to call a local electrician.. anyone else had this problem .. any advice would be appreciated.
It sounds like you have a very old system. You can only use a 45a fuse if the cable feeding the shower is 10mm2 or larger.Do you have a working RCD unit to provide earth fault protection? Go with Mira's advise...get a competent electrician to check things out.
Thank you Ryzen ... for taking time to reply. Yes I do have an RCD unit .. shower fusebox is separate from house fuse unit. Unfortunately 45 amp is too thick to fit in so I will get an electrician to look at it after New Year. Thank you again.
If you can only fit a 30a fuse into the carrier then its quite possible that a 6mm2 cable is installed. If a larger shower has been fitted than that of the original you may need to uprate the cable and the protection.
