...can they not see that the government can't react to their pointless strikes? If TGL taught us anything it was that. You cannot, must not appease union aggression. All they've done is cost their members wages. What you've been offered already is very generous so stop whining and get back to work, you've been lemmings following fools.

The only one I have real sympathy for is nurses as theres clearly a shortage of nurse's
//Nurses, for example, can walk away from a very stressful job and earn better money outside the NHS.//
Whats sort of jobs are you thinking of sandy, they earn more than most of my colleagues and similar by thw way.
Most companies in private sector are paying less than 10%, alot less, as many cant afford more, the businesses are affected by higher energy costs, transports costs, raw materials inflation...its a case of 5% take it or leave for many private sector co's

Why "especially" for nurses bob?
It's a myth that nurses are poorly paid.
A Band 7 Nurse (a Sister) earns an average basic of £44k (plus overtime, plus agency pay if they do either or both), and the RCN is suggesting, with a straight-face, that his or her salary should be increased by almost £8.5k. Even the most ardent supporters must agree that's nuts surely?
I simply refuse to believe that nurses are using foodbanks or are finishing off leftover patient food.
Those in the private sector are experiencing the same level of inflation to those in the public sector, and I can guarantee the vast majority of the private sector will not be giving inflation busting pay rises, so I struggle to understand why those paid from the public purse feel they deserve such large pay rises.
Here's an idea, an idea which would be roundly rubbished by unions...let's give all those clamouring for inflation proof rises, their wishes, BUT, when inflation reduces, which it will, they take a pay cut.
