To eat we're having submarine rolls with lettuce, haddock goujons and fresh tartare sauce, with chunky chips and white chocolate cheesecake with ice cream for afters.

We have some Viognier and Prosecco for MIL and me and beer and whisky for the men and a bottle of Monopole Rosé for midnight.

@19.26. Sharon like a lot of English language idioms it has Naval origins. 3 sheets to the wind is the usual saying. A sheet being the rope that controls or tightens the sails. If the sheets/ropes are "to the wind" (catching the wind) instead of the sails then the ship is uncontrollable and will roll about as if it is drunk.

Passable Douglas but a bit too much like organic cardboard for me. I have taken to sending my son into an Indian takeaway and get him to order half a dozen with a meal. Then I freeze them. Marks used to do lovely ones.
