Big day of catching up yesterday - a busy December had left me with partially finished 4742 and 4743 and then 4744 to download and start.

4743 was a gem - very hard and very enjoyable - finished and happy with the result.

4742 was ... less fun. All clues solved and I know what's going on - not sure I have the inclination to grind out the final grid though.

Many thanks to Kea for 4744 - a device we've seen before, but neatly done and a properly unambiguous ending - I agree that it's one of the best of 2022.

A fine way to end an excellent year of Listeners. As ever the sheer variety is great fun and I for one enjoy the occasional easier puzzle amongst the very tortuous offerings.
At quite the opposite end of the solving scale, as some of you may know, I produce an annual crossword of my own for my long-suffering family and friends who find it challenging enough, although I reckon that for most of you it would be no more than a quick stroll in the park.
