Does Anyone Have Rhinitis? Any Unconventional Tips On How To Ease Symptoms?
10 Answers
I know I am always moaning about it but my constant blocked/runny/sneezing nose due to rhinitis /polyps impacts on most hours of the day.
I don’t mind the sneezing and runny ness so much but when it is blocked (due to inflammation not mucus) it is very uncomfortable and makes my lower airway feel congested too.
As the polyps are only small it is not bad enough for surgery but prescribed nasal sprays (I have tried loads) only help about 30-40%.
I know there more serious illnesses but rhinitis seems to be a very underestimated issue people think it is just a blocked nose but constant inflammation just does my head in. I just feel unhealthy/tired all the time with it. The worst thing is it is all year round and won’t go away.
People on here have given me some good knowledge/advice but does anyone who has experienced rhinitis have tips which work for them?
I have tried the obvious nasal steroids/antihistamines, Vicks decongestant (this helps the most but can’t be used everyday), steam (doesn’t really help)
I age tried eliminating things from the diet milk etc and am now loading up on fruit, tumeric and ginger which is supposed to reduce inflammation. I am that cynical can’t see it working though.

Have you tried a nasal saline rinse? My brother swears by this...he's used it for years
Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation
I think he's also used the 'neti pot'.

Try the steam with a couple of drops of blue chamomile..... The cheaper green yellow one doesn't work so well. You don't want to blast yourself with things like eucalyptus or pine, rather use an oil with very strong anti inflammatory properties. If you can't afford chamomile yarrow is quite good. You can put a couple of drops on your pillow but it will stain. Also have you considered acupuncture, it's not just for pain,.
