Evening fellow ABer's

Apologies in advance if this post is in the wrong category.

Having been lucky enough to attend a few different sports events in the USA over the years it would seem they do somethings a little different to what we do in the uk.

One thing in particular they do very well is whether it be a Basketball, Baseball, Ice Hockey game etc, they take great pleasure in honouring a current/former member of of their Police Dept, Fire Dept and military etc.

My question is, why don't we do that in this country? and should we start doing it?

Maybe because we think all who contribute to society deserve honour and it's wrong to single out just some occupations ?
Wimbledon has a day of honouring the military, who provide the oncourt security.
I agree it would be good to do it more often.

Cloverjo,

that's precisely my point.
