Cryptic 1595

Hello . It’s me again asking for help. Funny crossie! Some really easy clues and some just mystifying. I have answers for all the clues but some are just a guess and, as ever, if they fit part of the clue I use them. Here’s a couple that I just can’t see the reasoning. Here goes.
Cheer for female act in show of boldness. With the letters I have this has got to be ‘ bravado’ . That’s the boldness bit but the rest….?
Dutch painter apparently covering room with new gloss. I have veneer . That’s the gloss and it sounds vaguely Dutch….
