alfa 156 2.5 v6 gear linkage problem?? help??

i have a 2001 alfa 156, v6, manual 6sp box, normally when you take a car out of 5th gear, the lever would spring to the left and directly slot into 3rd, however mine just comes out of 5th and springs no where.

it slots into every gear beautifully, but without return springing, its difficult to get directly into gear, any ideas, the box and cluch are perfect, seems to be a linkage issue?????????

it could be the remote in which the gearstick pivots on if u can select every gear ok with ease then thats the problem (common wit fords too)

I have the same problem and so far I have foud it is some thing to do with a bolt that gets loss, and all you need to do is tighten it, i belive it is in the gear box its self. If you find out let me know. Cheers Ian
