Tyre Fitterput On Wrong Tyre
Wife had a tyre blowout yesterday and tyre fitter came out to replace, they were about 10 minutes away. They took wheel with punctured tyre back to workshop to fit new tyre. They called me to ask if I wanted the same tyre (Continental) as they were in their opinion expensive £103 and they could fit a Falken for £72 which would do the job. I agreed to that, they eventually came back and fitter said I could follow him to depot to pay however I needed to get to another appointment and they said I could ring and provide payment details later which I did.
Today when Leaving work I then noticed the tyre fitted was a Continental.
The tyre fitters have asked for us to go to them to change the tyre, not an option today as I was at work until they closed and will be at work again tomorrow when they are open. I don't mind paying the uplift as I don't now need or want to go out of my way. However the same tyre bought online from the fitter would only be £87. Which I will pay the difference (£15) to. My thoughts being they want their tyre back anf fit the Falken that they mistakenly didn't do. They will then have a tyre (Continental) that should be classed as part worn. I now am in a position to buy of them at online price paying the difference and get another new Continental and they get a part worn, not a good deal for them.
What are your thoughts, am I just being a tight wad?

Personally, I'd keep the Conti (better tyres) and offer the online price...it's their mistake, after all. I don't like a mixture of different tyres around the car...I only have four (preferably five) of the same make/design fitted.
