computer speakers

please can someone help .a couple of weeks ago we had some lightning and the computer went down and weve had no sound coming from the speakers ever since ive even tried to use my portable cd player speakers but nothing computer is a standard old emachines 570 pc thanx alot

Sounds like the lightning may have damaged the Motherboard or just the sound card, if you are using the default sound card as in AC97 try installing a new sound card, if you are using a separate sound card, try going over to the AC97 inbuilt sound card.
