Bt Decor 2200 Corded Phone 1571 Problem

I have just replaced my old corded phone with BT Decor 2200
. The 1571 light is flashing even though all messages have been checked and deleted. Also, when I lift the receiver to make a new call, the dial tone is interrupted with the 1571 tone which usually also means a message is waiting.
How do I stop this happening. I have read that pressing 9 twice may work, but it doesn't.
Help appreciated

I don't know your particular phone but some devices complain bitterly if you haven't set the time and date. Have you done this or, perhaps, it's set automatically on your phone.

Hello bhg
I had alfeady set the time and date
Looking at the link I suggested BT say the solution is to get someone to ring you and leave a message. You then retrieve the message and delete it and that should clear things. If it doesn't report it as a fault.

Update
I tried all the tricks mentioned and none worked, so I called BT faults and they confirmed the problem lies with the connection to the small white box on the interior wall.
Engineer has been booked for next Wednesday.
Thanks for getting back to us - at least you've got some sort of solution.
