I think it depends on whether or not you believe in 'fate' in general, or 'kharma' in particular.

Personally, I don't, and I would never relish the death of a stranger, even one committing a crime at the time.

none the less, andy, you can feel "serves him right". He wouldn't have been condemned if his case had come to court; but it's an occupational hazard that went against him.

Prior to your post, nobody has made any mention of relishing a death, so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. It sounds like a bit of precious sanctimony.
Old Geezer you have not failed. It is sad a death has occurred, but if the man had not been under the car he would still be alive, he put himself in the danger zone.
AH, only you have mentioned relishing the death of a stranger. When people decide to commit crime - and it is a choice - they take their chances. I neither 'relish' an unexpected outcome like this one nor shed tears for it. I just think 'tough'.
