In a 5.30 press conference, Lancashire police have confirmed that the body pulled from the River Wyre yesterday, is that of missing Nicola Bulley.
A female police officer read out a statement on behalf of the family in which both ITV and Sky News were lambasted for directly contacting the family last night after news of the body had been released.

People will always speculate. It's human nature
It doesn't make it right and it's gone over the top in this case. People aren't even keeping up with the news, just making assumptions without bothering to keep up to date.

Why is suicide mentioned now?
It's gone over the top because of social media and that's the problem.
I looked into Facebook tonight and wish I hadn't. For some reason I was confronted with a dreadful thread about all this. People were suggesting dreadful things about Nicola' s partner and her sister. I very rarely look into Facebook.

It's true - blame the Media
This will happen more and more in certain parts of antisocial media unless there is stronger legislation than we have to date.
I agree Ellipsis.
My condolences to the family, and my heart goes out to her two little girls. What a terrible experience for them.

A very sad affair.
Made worse by the media Canary. Such an awful situation.
As I said earlier...media attention isn't necessarily a good thing. I wish the media could be silenced sometimes and just let the police get on with things.
I'm glad that the family can now begin to mourn.
And cue the next round of armchair "experts" egged on by the MSM and social Media.

Leave the Police and family alone. Police are doing what they can and the family need to grieve in private.
//This is a strange affair altogether, what I don't understand now is how a dog walker can find the body and all the recourses of police and other specialist couldn't find it. Still seems strange!//

It's quite easy if you are familiar with rivers. This was a mile away, that is a lot of river to search. Looking underwater in a river, especially in the UK winter is very difficult, you really cant see much due to the bottom being swept up making the water murky and the reeds/ plants.

Most bodies are found by the public, usually because the body has decomposed creating gasses that make it float and/or dislodge it from where it is caught.
'The family' thank you for not being too graphic.
I doubt the family are on here and I did tone it down.

And I was answering a question, it is "Answer"bank.
Ah, not social media then. Gotcha.
Why are you being like that?
Time to go I think.

AB is getting worse. I saw Annes response to a civil question from TTT too. Whats the matter with you all?
it is rather ironic that you say "And cue the next round of armchair "experts" egged on by the MSM and social Media." and then less than 5 mnutes later become an armchair expert on bodies in rivers on social media
Too late for sensitive and victimised YMB, but at least realisation dawned.
