I keep mine in a can. Gave up buying potatoes months ago due to the poor quality. You don't have to peel them, you don't have to throw any away. you don't have to use much energy to hot them up. But I must admit it does take a little time to get to like the taste when you first have them.
I built a cupboard in our dining room to balance it out better. It's in the North West corner of the house so stays cool even in summer. Great for spuds, onions and I have got my beer kegs and taps in there too. The wife keeps her chocolate in there, not that it spends that much time in there!
We used to buy spuds in a can when working on sites in Nottingham. Great for a normal meal once you are sick of takeaways. They are a different taste but ok.
