What are you trying to do exactly? Where are you trying to put the password and why?
I have never needed a password for Freeview

Some boxes have a password if you want to change stuff in the box, Barry. Such as a rescan, or reset.

A freeview box is surely a set top box that allows old - fashioned tvs to get freeview? They came on the market when tv went digital and cost around £10.
A hard drive recorder is a different thing altogether, usually called a PVR, personal video recorder.

I use a freeview box because my all singing all dancing TV apparently can't see the signal from my roof aerial, whereas the box can. Modern TV failure, older box success. Sounds about right.
