I watched this last night. Excellent performances, most notably from an unrecognisable (great transformation) Tom Hanks playing Elvis's manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

I also watched it last night. I hadn't researched it beforehand and was absolutely stunned after about an hour when I realised that was Tom Hanks. I thought Austin Butler looked uncannily like Elvis at times, mainly when he was older, no doubt helped by superb make-up artistry. As for the film hated the first half, far too surreal for me but the second half improved considerably.

I’m not an Elvis fan, and no doubt many are too young to remember him.

This youtube video shows that from 1969 to 1980 he was always within the world’s top three best-selling music artists, despite having died in 1977.
What with his success in the 1960s (including many films), he may have held that position for most of that decade too.

I love Elvis and watched this hoping for the best.
It was unmistakably a Baz Luhrmann film and full of twisted truths.
Whilst the actor who played Elvis was good ( not as good as Kurt Russel) it was obvious at times he was miming.

I saw this and really enjoyed it. I only recognised Tom Hanks by his smile. Did anyone spot Elvis for real at the very end? Think it was him playing the piano

It was Bobbie. I wonder if that was his last recorded performance? I’ve never heard him sing that song before.
