Having done a bit of googling, I'm taking a liking to Piran!

Oh dear, I forgot, I'll be in the doghouse with my son in law. St Piran was thought to be Irish. For some reason the Irish decided they didn't want him so they tied him to a mill stone and rolled him off the cliff into a stormy sea. The sea immediately calmed and Piran floated away landing on the coast of Cornwall.
