.....what was the best thing before sliced bread? Was it sliced bacon? If Mrs Clarions' efforts are anything to go by, it could be sliced custard. Or sliced soup. But does it have to be sliced?

Well the bread slicer was invented in 1928 so there were many great inventions before that. Eg the telephone, photography, even some very useful things that we take for granted like the wood screw.
