Royal Mail Stamp Swap

A couple of years ago we bought about £100 worth of 2nd class stamps to inflation-proof us. We sent them off in batches to get them swapped for the new bar-coded ones, first about a dozen and then some blocks of 25, only sending a new block when the previous one had been returned. Unfortunately the last block we sent around November time has not been returned, presumably lost in the post. We sent a couple of letters to the FREEPOST address used for the swap but have had no reply. Does anybody know of any way of contacting RM to get this sorted?

bhg, sorry I cannot help. Sounds like a bit of a scam by RM. I am sure you would have been meticulous addressing the envelope so wonder how the devil it got lost. Rotten shame for you.

Sorry I can't help but when I was sending mine I asked for 'Proof of Postage.' This was not possible as there was no Postcode in the address. However I was lucky that mine were returned, in fact I was sent all 1st Class to replace my 2nd Class ones

Did you photocopy the form before sending off. Although it was Freepost, I paid the postage and got a receipt for proof of posting and also signed for delivery. I have done twice and received my swaps within 2 weeks.

I tried 2 different Post Offices and neither would give 'Proof of Postage' as there was no Postcode. I don't understand how you got it furrypusscat

"Unfortunately, there's no way to get proof of postage when you send the Freepost envelope. 

However, Royal Mail advises that those sending Bulk Swap Out forms send them via special delivery. Royal Mail will refund the additional cost to do this with barcoded stamps worth the same amount."

I used my own envelope and the Royal Mail sorting office found me the post code to use. I don't think I kept it as I had swapped all my stamps but I will look.

This address is for swapping over £200 worth of stamps. I remember it was Edinburgh where I sent to but was under £200. I would write to them and they may be able to help you, it would be a start.

As promised, an update.

We sent an enquiry form by email at the weekend and were promised a response within 3 working days; today is day 3.
I was trying to decide what to do next when the post came with a set of replacement stamps for us, so RESULT.
Thanks again to all who offered suggestions, especially furrypussycat whose suggestion it was the got us the result.
