Football Without All The Nattering

is what we have all been waiting for! Long may it continue. What is the point of analysing moves long after they have happened? Just need to know who is kicking the ball to who and who has scored.

There is no point to a programme like MOTD if it’s just going to do that.
For everyone who claims they like to sit through silence there are hundreds more who like the banter and the analysis.
It’s actually really at least half the point of MOTD.
The weekend format was making the best of a bad job.
It isn’t the future

Since the format has been in place for so long, it is clearly what the MOTD audience want, otherwise it would have been altered.
I am not a football fan, but if I was, and I was watching highlights of a game, I would appreciate the analysis and comments of an expert to assist me in understanding what happened, and why, and how.
If I was not interested in any such assessment and analysis, I would not tune into MOTD anyway.
Ergo, people who tune in do want the analysis, which is why the analysts are there.

Not watched motd for years now. Got sick of the posturing smug, jug eared, smarmy user long ago. Made a point of switching it on, even recorded it :)), this week. Instead of 90 minutes it was done and dusted in 20. This means that every week the compulsory tax called a "licence" is being squandered on 70 minutes of drivel, and self regard in public being postulated by half a dozen half wits at our expense. I do not need their self congratulatory views on what I have just seen being analysed to destruction, sometimes on repeated slomo, when watching a repeat of a game that I know the result of. A game that I have played and watched before it was even on telly. This outmoded model of a National Broadcaster is past its sell by date and is stinking the airwaves out. Tell me ... if it did not already exist because of the vagaries of historic( now hysteric) circumstance, would it be the template for a new broadcasting service. I think that is less than unlikely.
