My friend showed me this quite recently.
Like you say, it was a great shot and it was intentional .... but he needed an element of luck :)
I think he gets credit against the "luck" factor for having seen that the shot could even be on. I was going to say initially that it might have been desperation, and that he might have intended it to catch the red on the way up, but, no:
