you're allowed to avoid tax, bobb, just not evade it. But he's always seemed like a genuine freelance to me.

Employee for tax purposes, freelance when he wants to speak his mind outside BBC control.

some decades ago now, I used to work as an employee and a freelance, for the same company at the same time. Nothing improper or unusual about it.
