Well I'm married and I work . I have kind of a stressful job and I talk about my job a lot. I tend to vent about things a lot . It's my way of getting things out . Today my friend tells me she is tired of hearing about my job . I am very hurt about it . I am going to just start talking to my husband but I have nothing else to talk to her about. Should I stop calling her .

Our friends are there for us when we have stressful times but if that’s become the norm then it will be tiring for her and she’ll be feeling as stressed as you are!
It probably took a bit of courage on her part to mention how your work is affecting her so don’t stop calling her. Instead use it as an opportunity to get away from work. Meet up for a walk or cinema or something that helps you to leave work behind for a few hours. Ask her about herself, talk about what you did in your time off, what’s on TV, anything. Sounds like she’s a keeper but needs cheering up.

Sometimes things can make you take stock and have a think about what is really going on.... Is it the friendship wasn't as deep as you thought, are you the friend they need? Or are you just using them as a place to vent. or are there things about the job that mean it's time for a change.
When I was working, the rule was I came home, and apart from making a cup of tea Dave left me alone for fifteen minutes , during this time a freshen up and change of clothes symbolised setting aside my working life. I didn't allow myself to off load....my work problems belonged at work. But if there were issues at work I would write them down and review them the next day. If I felt they were important I would raise it with my manager straight away. No point in just venting.... It changes nothing for the better it just spreads the negativity and reinforces it in your own head.
