To All Seasoned Coach Travellers

Where is the best place to sit on a coach? We recently did a coach trip that was about 3 hours in each direction.We sat at the back as it gave me more leg room. My wife is a short *** so she doesn't have the problem ;-) She however has neck and spine problems and she found it very uncomfortable. Is there a better place to sit that is a little less bouncy ? Admittedly it wasn't the newest coach and maybe super new coaches are better but suggestions would be interesting

Dover? Joking aside ... the middle of the coach between the two axles gives a less bouncy and side to side ride. But of course it has other drawbacks such as restricted visibility and as you mentioned leg room. I always like being right behind the driver when we can get it .

We always book the seats behind the driver even if we have to pay more. I'm too tall to sit in the other seats.

Some coaches have lots of room with much fewer seats, tables, swivel chairs but these are rare and very expensive

I'm with Barry on this. The seats behing the driver always seem the best to me.

I disagree. Behind the driver on the coaches I’ve been are were more restricted leg room wise. Right at the front to the drivers left are good seats. Alternatively if there is an extra middle door with steps for exit, the seats there are unrestricted leg room wise. Of course I am speaking as I’ve found the coaches that I have traveled on.

The joke was that the question was about where to sit on a coach, and there are thousands of people sitting on coaches at Dover at the moment. I feel so sorry for them.

The smoothest ride is in the middle of the coach.
The best seat is the drivers seat.

Certainly on most National express coaches the second row on the nearside
( directly behind the single disabled persons seat has a little more leg room. However the first three normal rows behind the disabled seat are slightly lower so the view from the window isn't so good if you are shorter. I normally go for row five because it's one of the bookable seats ( only the first five rows can be booked in advance) I haven't noticed much difference in 'bounce or roll'.
