Why indeed. Either disable your phone's emergency notifications if you don't want to receive them, or leave them on so you can be informed of an impending disaster which, in all probability, you already know about and have already done all you can to avoid or mitigate.

Yes, a complete waste of taxpayers' money but very small beer indeed compared to the vast sums shovelled down the many bottomless pits that the government quaintly terms "investment". But if it makes ministers feel happy and fulfilled, who are we to deny them that little pleasure.

as I said above, It's yet more Government nannying and intrusion.

Add to that I dont trust the Government (of any colour) after covid showed the control freaks for what they are. And of course the waste of tax payers money (Remember the Government dont have any money - it is ours)

I expect more from a Conservative Government, but of course we dont have one do we.

well meaning perhaps, but i suspect it will end up being misused, as the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act has been, as soon as local councils are granted access to it.
