...a cheerleader approaches a car by mistake! Bang she's in hospital lucky to be alive. I don't think this is what they had in mind when the 2nd amendment was adopted.

All young people. There was a shooting at a 16th birthday party, including the birthday girls brother trying to shield her. There are links below the BBC article to several other senseless shootings. I mean...being shot for driving up the wrong driveway or ringing the wrong door bell???
There have been 160 mass shootings (4 or more shot) this year.
I don't think I'll ever go back.

One needs to be careful of falling for the media hysteria.
Take for example mass shooting. What is the definition of mass shooting (there are many). The one quoted above for instance includes robbery and gang violence the number as most would think of them is far lower.
Also deaths by firearms needs some perspective. Approximately half are suicides.
Additionally look at the size and population of the USA. For most people if not in the hotspot city areas the chances of being shot are minimal.

you have no idea what an originalist is ( the supreme ct is full of them thx to Trump) - no change ever....to the constitution.
we the Brits have no idea about this concept
none of us go around saying
Oh Lord Campbell's libel act 1792 must never be changed
or
The British North America Act 1791 should never have been replaced by the Act of 1867.
so they do it because they think they can do it ( stand your ground etc)

I think some people are just angry about life in general and extreme violence including lethal shooting (often of innocent people) is their way of expressing their anger. Facilitated by easy access to firearms.
