there's a very telling paragraph in Zacs link:
"There are other problems. AlphaCode requires tens of billions of trillions of operations per problem—computing power that only the largest tech companies have. And the problems it solved from the online programming competitions were narrow and self-contained. But real-world programming often requires managing large code packages in multiple places, which requires a more holistic understanding of the software, Solar-Lezama says." - yes ever more power and data can impersonate "intelligence" .
What amuses me is when I read reports that AI will threaten human existence. But AI (as far as I know) is able to prevent humans from reaching for the "Off" switch.
tomus: "Sorry to be pedantic, but artificial Intelligence is exactly what this is." - no, it's Psuedo Intelligence, ie that which pretends to be..... and that is what it does, it gives the impression of intelligence when none exists.
No jno, artificial X means X created by artificial means. There is no intelligence in AI at all thus it is Psuedo Intelligence, something that is impersonating something real. For example a computer cannot generate a true random number, thus we call them Psuedo Random numbers when they are generated by a computer.
