Is that true? It wasn't in my day. However I retired in 1997. Just shows the intelligence of the hierarchy of today's modern Police Force. Must of been some sad, saddo numb nuts to dream up that inane Guff. Eh?

As this thread is about the London Marathon I have a photo of me and a colleague discussing the route with Chris Brazier before the first London marathon. Our motorcycle unit ( Special Escort Group)topped and tailed the race and have done so ever since. Our motto was 'We Lead and Others Follow'. Just saying. No controversy who entered in those days and no one cared. It used to be a fun day for all regardless of race, colour or creed
