I have a Freeview box. Is it possible to video Freeview Channels? If so how do I programme the video for these Channels. I have tried studying the instruction booklet but all they talk about is satellite channels. Anyone have the answer in plain English please?

I can do it.

I have to do it manually - set channel to AV2, the date and times.

The freeview box has to be on and tuned to the channel you want to record.

Ethel is right, it can be done. There is a messageboard called radioandtelly which has lots and lots of helpfull information. It's well worth a look.

I watch freeview through the AV channel on the telly, set the video on it's AV channel and tape no problems.

The output from your Freeview box needs to feed, via a Scart lead, to the input of your VCR. You can't tune your VCR, in the usual way, to the various channels because its now receiving an 'AV' signal rather than an 'RF' one (which is what comes through the aerial lead).

I'll try to give you a very simple example of what you need to do. Let's assume that you're just off to the pub and you want to record Rising Damp (which is on ITV3 at 2200):
When you go to the pub, leave the Freeview box switched on and tuned to Channel 10 (ITV3). Set the VCR to record from 2200 to 2230, choosing 'AV' as the 'channel' to be recorded. That's it!

OK, let's add a bit. I'll now assume that, as well as wanting to record Rising Damp, you also want to record Never Mind the Full Stops (which is on BBC4 at 2300). NB: You can only do this if your Freeview box has a timer facility. Some do, some don't:
You'll now need to set the VCR to record the 'AV' signal from 2200 to 2230 (for Rising Damp) and again from 2300 to 2330 (for NMTFS). You can go to the pub leaving the Freeview box receiving Channel 10 (ITV3) so that Rising Damp will still be recorded from 2200 to 2230 but you also need to programme the Freeview box to switch to Channel 9 (ITV4), at some time between 2230 and 2300, so that when the VCR next records it will be receiving the signal for NMTFS. (Exactly how you do this, if it's possible at all, will be shown in the handbook. Remember, though, that not all Freeview boxes offer this facility).

You have a manual, so for satellite, read Freeview box, and it should work - that's what I did.
