Mutiny In The Wardrooms

Just poured myself a 'Pinkers' and to my chagrin there was just but a smidgin left.I have had that 20cl bottle for about 5 years. It has lasted and done me well .I wrote it up on the shopping list for tomorrows shop at Sainsburys. Having checked on the web it is now £10 a bottle in Sainsbury and Tesco. That is more than the litre bottle of gin and tonic I use it with per measure!! What the heck do they put in it to justify that price? Mutiny indeed in His Majesty's Britannic Navy or what's left of it.

The daily 'tot of rum' disappeared as well. That's it now, we're sunk. :(

I stand corrected, Gulliver. I wasn't in the Navy so that gives me some excuse I hope. Actually I called a unicorn-hunting dog 'Grog' in my 2nd 'Eunice the Unicorn' book. He was a big, fierce-looking softie - possibly about right? :)

Good grief, something we use in tiny quantities is more expensive per tiny amount than something used in large volumes, next you’ll tell us that pound for pound truffles are more expensive than potatoes :-) PS. It’s His Britannic Majesty’s Navy. PPS other bitters are available. PPPS. Tonic in a pink gin? They’d throw you out of the wardroom :-)

You would be 'gutted' how Strait street has changed. Quite respectable with photo and art studios. Even a hardened matelot would be hard pushed to find a drink there. :-(

It is pricey but it does last a long time, £10 for five years seems a good buy to me.
